In the midst of the ongoing global economic crisis, students worldwide are facing the daunting challenge of finding new ways to make ends meet. The same is true for students in Pakistan, but a recent hybrid conference has shown a glimmer of hope for these students in the form of artificial intelligence (AI).
The two-day AI and Education Conference, hosted by the non-profit organisation Off The School (OTS), aimed to train students and educators to use AI-powered chatbots to learn new skills and earn money through freelance work. The conference’s closing session on Sunday featured speakers and trainers who emphasised the potential of AI as a powerful tool for students to adapt to the rapidly changing economic landscape.
“The ability to work as a freelancer provides students with flexibility and autonomy, allowing them to balance their studies and work in a way that suits their individual needs.”

In his session on how to write effective questions for chatbots and generate useful prompts, OTS founder and journalist Najam Soharwardi highlighted the importance of embracing AI as a tool for progress and empowering future generations. He explained that by learning to use AI-powered chatbots effectively, students could increase their knowledge and skills, create educational material, and earn money through freelance gigs.
“It is an exciting prospect for students struggling to make ends meet. The use of AI chatbots is a great way to learn new skills and earn money through freelance work,” he said. “The ability to work as a freelancer provides students with flexibility and autonomy, allowing them to balance their studies and work in a way that suits their individual needs.” Soharwardi also taught the participants how to generate income as content writers with the help of AI-powered chatbots.
The conference’s training sessions also featured computer engineer Waqas Ansari, who works for an American company. He taught students the basics of programming and demonstrated how AI could play a significant role in this field. He encouraged students to take advantage of the numerous freelance opportunities available to them, providing them with the tools they need to thrive in the competitive job market.
OTS Edtech head Omama Ansari presented how AI could help digital marketers earn money by enabling them to create high-quality content faster and increase their earning potential. AI in digital marketing is a game-changer, as it enables professionals to create more content in less time, making it possible for them to take on more work and increase their income, he emphasised.
A day earlier, the conference featured a webinar addressed by AI experts from the USA, Canada and Pakistan. Over a hundred participants attended the webinar.
